The mouse and the owl

(A story rhyme for kids)

Moonlight on the pool
The water glistens
The night air cool
The owl keenly listens

The mouse rummaged
in the garbage
For some left over food
Owl waited patiently, After all
this was his neighbourhood

He ruled the night
From his vantage perch
Keen vision, silent flight
Prey's life surely in a lurch

The mouse made a move
Deft and nimble
But the owl caught on
Got ready to rumble

A deadly trajectory
he launched upon
The  mouse oblivious
Was nibbling at some corn

Owl's shadow on the pool
Caused a light flash
The mouse saw his peril
He quickly made a dash

The owl cried foul
to his God above
He cursed the moon
He cursed his fate
He cursed the pool
He cursed his state

Where am I ruler!
Of this moonlit night
Jazzy claws,  binocular vision
But the mouse is out of sight

Mouse saw the world very differently
My prayer before my meal
paid of pretty well
I being hungry ensured
my reflexes were swell

Life is so wonderful
now I have a story to tell
How I escaped
from the claws of hell
