(Poetry Play Scripted By Jibrael Jos)
In a land not so far away
there lived three men.
Their perception of love!
Yikes, Traditional and Zen ~
The first guy is a Facebook creep
Listening to him would make you freak
If he wants to get into your shoes
Chances are you will be the evening news ~
Facebook Creep (Yikes monologue):
(A man in his forties is looking at a laptop while holding a knife dripping in blood. A dead body is visible behind the desk)
Is there is a way out
From this bloody mess
It's her fault
I stabbed her dead
She clicked so many likes
Why did she get into my head
~ I told her so reasonably
That she follow me
But she started liking his update
Now see where she ended up
No like No comment No date
Just a full stop to her fate
~ What if they arrest me today
Will they understand
My reason to kill
Mine was true love
Killing does not give me a thrill
just like the last three case
a lonely reality I have to face
~ Tonight I will go online
And make a few friends
I want true love
Not so many dead ends
Will you be willing
To accept my friend request
I am your friend's friend
~ My interest are same as yours
My qualifications too
Once I shift my birthday
Our sun signs will match too
I will read all your past post
And update status like you do
I am your true love
Let me get into your shoe
### Narrator::
Second one is the man of your dreams
When he walks by, girls tend to scream
Good with words and knows what to say
With him life would be a perfect play!
~ Zen (Monologue):
(A good looking smart young man, ready to propose)
Carved from a moon flake,
and chiselled from a star.
Like a lake on a mountain
perfect you are ~
Designer of the peacock,
and the maker of raindrop
would be in awe of your
mesmerising looks ~
Essence of moonshine
O soft petal of a rose.
You are my purpose
only to you will I propose ~
I would serenade you my love
with song of a nightingale.
Accept me, O sublime beauty
my heart has already set sail
### Narrator:
But once the honeymoon is done
and romantic songs are sung
His interest will fizzle
Romantic showers turn into a drizzle ~
Not interested in listening to you
He may get attracted to another woman too
The Zen-nish shine would have worn
Even before your child is born ~
Third one is a traditional soul
No salsa or even a hug outdoor
He would love and take care
but not the magic they sell everywhere ~
Sadly they are valued
only after they are dead.
While they are alive,
"He is loving, but nothing to be said" ~
The monologue which follows
is his wish after he did die
Not expressed in his lifetime
but now in response to his wife’s cry
Traditional (Monologue):
(Wife crying near the grave, husband speaks as a ghost stands nearby)
I wish that you be happy
and live your life well.
We traversed this planet
it seemed like a magic spell ~
I move on from this world
and won't linger in a tiny grave.
But without your embrace
it won't be a heaven anywhere ~
But I promise you this
I carry you in my heart.
And with zest I will live
even though we do part ~
Good things are not forever
Rainbows too fade away.
So paint new ones on your sky
make most of each day ~
A caterpillar has no clue
what wonders await
Magical colours and hues
Dainty wings is its fate ~
I too will fly away
to the world beyond.
I too will discover
new blossoms and moons ~
Whenever you feel a tingle
Know that it's me.
Whenever you give a giggle
my heart will jump in glee ~
Magical and Romantic
It still is going to be
Together and Forever
is still you and me
### Narrator:
Now to conclude here is a dialogue
between a couple I know.
Struggling to understanding love and life
as they stumble along and flow
A couple (Dialogue):
(Husband Wife speak the following verses in tandem)
What is the definition of love?
What does it mean to be free?
Could I have got the meaning wrong
confused one for the other you see? ~
If I won't you to conform, is it love
if I expect you to love only me.
Then where does my love end
and when does it begin to suffocate thee
If I can detach from you its true love!
If I attach we no longer will be free!
In our zeal for attachment
we have lost ourselves don't you see? ~
My needs, my desires are paramount
my selfish life is important to me.
Because if my quest is to please you only
down the line I will regret who I have been
Give me time, give me space my love
until I find myself, our relationship can't be
If then we work it out it can be magic
Else we would have avoided a catastrophe
Narrator:
So with this I come to the end of our tale
if you both value relationships it won't fail
Romeos and Juliets in the millions out there
Love each other NOW, that is my humble prayer
