Independence Day

Every country on earth was once conquered
Every country on earth now feel they are free
But what we define as independence today
May not be the same for you and for me

Some feel equality is not there
Some feel equality itself is unfair
Some feel liberty implies no rules
Some feel Liberty is where we buy shoes

Some feel it implies self reliance
and they should not be forced to do trade
For others it implies either free trade or apply an economic barricade

Some feel self rule is essential and external interference a crime
Others feel how their country manipulated others an item on news at prime time

Some feel their country is trapped inside another
And they will be independent if they break free
Others yearn for a piece of land governed by a neighbouring country

Some feel their country is held in chains by their government
And they will be independent if top layer is pruned from their tree

When a son wants to stay independently
And a daughter wants to live free
How can  millions of people agree on a definition of what is their country

Foreign rule is unacceptable and local governance the need of the times
But do we really need this independence?
Isn't patriotism a figment of our mind!

Shouldn't we think beyond these imaginary lines!
We need a world which is interdependent
Where each others strength propels us to dazzling heights
But keeping the growth and prosperity of each human in our mind
