Love and Freedom

What is the definition of love?
What does it mean to be free?
Could I have got the meaning wrong
confused one for the other you see

If I want you to conform, is it love
If I expect you to love only me
Then where does my love end
And when does it begin to suffocate thee

If I can detach from you its true love!
If I attach we no longer will be free!
In our zeal for attachment
we have lost ourselves don't you see

My needs, my desires are paramount
My selfish life is important to me
Because if my quest is to please you only
Down the line I will regret who I have been

Give me time, give me space my love
Until I find myself, our relationship can't be
If then we work it out, it can be magic
Else we would have avoided a catastrophe
