Every child meets atleast one teacher
What if that teacher shows the right way
the world will be a better place
That much I can surely say

The righteous path is not so obvious
If as teachers we lead by example
He would observe, think and apply.
But if we lack integrity, God forbid
what the child might try

If we truly believe in a child
If we listen to the stories she shares
She would also listen to us
With sincerity beyond compare

If we expect the child to do well
And encourage if he does fail
He will try try, try again
In spite of challenges it entails

If we respect a child as we should
and give freedom to think and speak
She would live a purposeful life
deeper meaning she will seek

Help me dear God, to do justice
To the children entrusted under my care
Let me be a good teacher, sincere and fair
Let me do my homework, as I expect them to do theirs
Utilise my time well, as I expect them to keep time on life's stairs
