Sand and the Ocean

O Mighty Ocean, 
Don't judge me by my looks
Today I am a grain of sand
but once I too
was listed in holy books

I crowned a himalayan mountain
And from me vibrant rivers arose
Wind and snow weathered me down
To serve a higher purpose

As a huge rock on the mountain side
I was home for man and beast
Sheltering them in storm and rain
Under my shade men had many a feast

Wind and Water weathered me down
To serve a higher purpose
My pieces was chosen to build a temple
To the creator of our universe's circus

I travelled down the river
Serving both plants and trees
Finally as silt, a boon for farmers
To grow crops as they please

My life's journey took a billion years
I started as a mountain, then a rock
then to soil and finally, rain and
river brought me down to you

O mighty Ocean
My salt is dissolved in your essence
And here as sand
I stand before your presence

Ocean::

O child, I was with you as snow,
Later as rain didn't you know?
It was I who carried you in the stream
It was I who helped you realise your dream

River was me who turned your rough edges to smooth pebble
It was with me you learnt to get out of trouble
Today you are indivisible and pure
You've attained salvation for sure
